Colorado's 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office

Internships in the District Attorney's Office

Consider joining our team as an intern to gain valuable experience in the field of criminal law.

Law Students

The 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office offers the best prosecution internship in the State of Colorado!  Our program provides law students unique opportunities to work alongside experienced prosecutors, investigators, and support staff as they fight for justice in El Paso and Teller Counties. Interns with the 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office engage in meaningful legal work, gain practical skills, and build professional networks to support their future endeavors.  The program provides hands-on exposure in case preparation, legal research, courtroom proceedings, and much more.

Level 1 law students (1Ls) will gain experience in a busy prosecutor's office, including working in appeals, conducting legal research and writing, and observing court proceedings.  Every intern will write at least one brief in a county court appeal.  Interns can also expect to write inter-office memos and draft pleadings to include responses to defense motions, notices of appeal, and motions for reconsideration.  1L interns may also have the chance to rotate throughout County Court, Juvenile, SVU, the homicide team and be included in special projects.

Second- and third-year law students (2Ls and 3Ls) work in County Court. Interns start in the First Appearance Center and have opportunities to participate in trials as their program progresses.
